Elizabeth Swan, LISW
Clinical Expertise
Elizabeth Swan, LISW, specializes in treating trauma, depression and anxiety, and disordered eating to adults and adolescents, drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Committment Therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is a brain-based treatment that helps reprocess distressing memories through bilateral eye movements—similar to EMDR, but often with faster results. Her clinical experience includes working with adults and adolescents in group home settings through Lighthouse Youth Services, providing social work care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in both Partial Hospitalization and Inpatient programs (where she received training in eating disorder protocols), and treating substance use disorders and trauma during her internship in Grand Rapids, MI.
Elizabeth creates a space where clients feel truly in control of their own growth—she’s there to support, empower, and walk alongside them on their journey. Known for her easygoing, down-to-earth presence, Elizabeth combines warmth and humor with empathy and thoughtful, insight-driven questions that encourage meaningful self-discovery and personal development.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Elizabeth brings a deep respect for cultural diversity and the ways systemic oppression and historical trauma impact mental health and overall well-being. She is attentive to the power dynamics that can arise in the therapeutic space and is committed to fostering a collaborative relationship where clients feel empowered to guide their own healing process. Elizabeth has experience working with individuals across a wide range of identities and life experiences, including differences in socioeconomic status, nationality, ethnicity, immigration status, religion, gender identity, sexuality and polyamory, neurodivergence, disability, complex medical needs, and those with adoption or foster care backgrounds. She believes that personal identities and cultural contexts are vital sources of strength and resilience, and integrates this understanding into the therapeutic work. With a foundation in social work values, Elizabeth is committed to ongoing learning—continually deepening her understanding of intersectionality and its impact on mental health and the therapeutic relationship.

Elizabeth brings a strong foundation in neuroscience and mental health to her therapeutic work, holding a Master’s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University and a Bachelor’s in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan.
