Our Approach

Although each clinician brings their own approach to their sessions, you can ensure that every therapist comes from an evidence-based practice background. Clinicians have completed trainings in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Informed Care (TIC).

These leading evidence-based practices show great promise in reducing unwanted symptoms and behaviors in clients, improving their lives.

Please read clinician bios for further information on each clinician’s preferred approach.

We believe at Blue Pine Psych Services that therapy should be both compassionate and effective. That’s why we use evidence-based practices—innovative approaches to treatment that are grounded in scientific research, clinical expertise, and the unique needs of each individual client.

In simple terms, evidence-based practice means that the therapies we offer are backed up by research, showing their effectiveness. Whether it’s ART for trauma, Gottman Method for couples, or CBT for anxiety and depression, our team is trained in methods proven to help clients feel better and make lasting changes.

But we also know that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Clinicians at Blue Pine Psych Services tailor their approach to you along with utilizing Evidence-based practices. You can ensure your clinician understands your story, your goals, and what feels right for your pace of growth within treatment.

When you work with us, you can feel confident that you’re getting care that’s informed, intentional, and designed to help you move forward.

What is evidence-based practice?

Common Types of Therapy

Below are common approaches to individual treatment

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective, research-based treatments for common concerns like anxiety, depression, and stress. CBT helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress—and learn how to challenge and reframe those thoughts into more balanced, realistic ones.

At Blue Pine Psych Services, our clinicians regularly incorporate CBT techniques into sessions to support meaningful, lasting change. You can expect a collaborative, skills-based approach that empowers you to better understand your thoughts, improve your mood, and navigate life with greater confidence.

  • What if you were told that instead of trying your hardest to change or get rid of an unwanted thought or feeling, to instead just accept it and let it be? Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offers a powerful shift in how we relate to difficult thoughts and emotions. Instead of fighting to change or avoid them, ACT teaches us to acknowledge and accept them—making space for what’s uncomfortable without letting it take control.

Through ACT, clients learn how to live in alignment with their values, even when challenges arise. At Blue Pine Psych Services, we use ACT to help individuals build resilience, reduce emotional struggle, and create more meaningful, fulfilling lives.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a skills-based approach designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and feel more in control of their lives. Originally developed for people experiencing emotional dysregulation or self-destructive behaviors, DBT has since been proven effective for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles.

At Blue Pine Psych Services, we incorporate DBT techniques to support clients in four key areas:

    • Mindfulness – staying present in the moment

    • Distress Tolerance – managing crisis without making things worse

    • Emotion Regulation – understanding and navigating difficult feelings

    • Interpersonal Effectiveness – communicating clearly and maintaining healthy boundaries

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or reactive, DBT can provide the tools to help you feel more grounded and empowered.
